3 Sly Tricks Marketers Use To Get You To Buy

First, let me start by saying, advertising literally makes the world go 'round. Without legitimate competition, all of the biggest businesses and companies would monopolize their industries, leading to...well I think we all know how that goes down. SO, every time you hear one of those "annoying" commercials, or your eyes are bothered by that magazine ad you have to flip over, you should be happy that we live in a place where we have the ability to grow our businesses through advertising and marketing.

That being said, the advertising industry itself includes businesses that need to turn a profit to survive.  And the better they can make someone else's business successful, the more successful and credible they can be.

Advertisers not only specialize in making businesses money, they also specialize in knowing what will make you make that purchase that you're iffy about.

So here are a couple of the (not so) dirty little secrets advertisers use to help us make those purchasing decisions:

1. The old saying "sex sells" actually turns out to be very true, and very prevalent today. If an ad can give people the feeling that using their product will enhance their chances to have sex, people want that product. Although sometimes the techniques are very subtle, they have an incredible affect our brains. Image result for sex sells advertisements

2. The refund-guaranteed technique: This implies that no matter what the customer does, they cant lose. A guarantee suggests that a product is of high quality when it's not. This tactic is classicly used because it works. And, companies make it so difficult for customers to get their money back anyway, so few even try. It looks like a win-win for the customer, but when you see this, just think of it as a win-win for the company, because you're not getting your money back.

3. Anthropomorphism: This is when ads give products human(or animal)characteristics in effort to make an emotional connection or bond to the consumer. This technique is very successful because it helps people form an emotional tie to the product.
